Murder charge in killing of boy, 8, at NYC hotel
A woman suspected of killing her 8-year-old son at a luxury Manhattan hotel and then trying to commit suicide has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police say that 49-year-old Gigi Jordan was charged on Saturday while at a local hospital where she had been taken after being found slumped on the floor of her room at the five-star Peninsula Hotel New York on Fifth Avenue with her dead son nearby.
Police say the boy was found Friday lying face-up on the bed in a room. They were surrounded by prescription medication.
City medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says the boy’s cause of death is pending further study, including toxicology and tissue studies.
Prosecutors didn’t know whether Jordan had an attorney or when she would be arraigned.
