You've heard of "Jock Jams," right? There's a reason those dance-music compilations were so popular. They got the party started right -- and quickly -- but they were also upbeat and fun to listen to, making what many dreaded, namely exercise, a bit easier.

While the songs may have changed somewhat, (despite the '90s musical renaissance), the point of kicking out the jams in workouts remains the same: music inspires.

And when it comes to the importance of music in a workout, you can't find stricter adherents than the folks behind SoulCycle.

The spinning fitness studio, which just opened new outposts in Williamsburg and the West Village, considers making a connection between body and music to be one of its guiding principles.

And so, it's not a shock that a lot goes into the making of each instructor's playlist.

"It's like a journey," said Parker Radcliffe, who leads SoulCycle sessions at multiple locations across the city. "It's supposed to be an escape."

Radcliffe's summer playlist, created specifically for his new classes at SoulCycle Williamsburg, were picked with a goal in mind.

"[You have to think about] what beats make people want to stay on the bike," he said. Radcliffe's playlist is so curated and specific -- with most of the tracks being deep-cuts or remixes not available commercially -- that we couldn't even make a copy of it for you.

Guess you'll just have to attend one of his classes to hear and feel the music for yourself.
