Nadia Habib got an early birthday present Thursday, when immigration officials gave the Queens college student and her mom a temporary reprieve from deportation to Bangladesh.

“I’m really grateful for this day,” Habib, who turns 20 Friday, said after she was told that her case will be reviewed.

“It’s a great birthday present,” said Habib, who has lived in the U.S. since she was 20 months old. “But we need to keep fighting this because they have not come up with a decision.”

The family’s lawyer said there is no deadline for when the government will act, but it could be only a few days.

Habib’s case has garnered the support of elected officials and has become a rallying cry for immigrant advocates seeking to allow students raised in the U.S. to remain in the country legally.

While Habib and her mother, Nazim, are illegally here, her three siblings are all U.S. citizens and her father has a green card.

Federal officials have not commented on the case.
