Neon Trees growing in popularity

Despite his band’s explosive rise to success, the lead singer of Neon Trees isn’t worried about topping the charts or selling lots of records.

For Tyler Glenn, 27, it’s all about pleasing fans by keeping songs fresh and making live shows as interesting as possible with crazy outfits, theatrics and spontaneity.

Although the band is currently touring with My Chemical Romance (MCR), Neon Trees will embark on its own headlining tour in June to further support its debut album, “Habits.”

amNewYork caught up with Glenn:

What is it like to tour with MCR?
What I respect about MCR is that they’ve had this grassroots climb to where they’re at now. Their fan base has been very devoted along the way. To be able to borrow their fans for half an hour every night — it’s been a treat.

Has success changed you?
I’m a lot more comfortable with who I am. I feel like I have a safety net now that makes me have less fear about being loud about what I think.

What are some of your worst habits?
I don’t really drink or do drugs or have sex with underage fans or pee on anybody. My habits are more like: I drink too much Diet Dr. Pepper and probably wear tighter pants than I should and use too many hair products.

How will you approach your next album?
I would love to be able to continue in the late-‘70s/early-‘80s thing. I want to be able to grow with the fans that we have.
