Prosecutors have added a charge that toughens the potential prison sentence for a Florida woman accused of arranging the killings of her husband and mother-in-law.
A revised indictment was released Tuesday against Narcy Novack, 54, of Fort Lauderdale and her brother, Cristóbal Veliz, 57, of Brooklyn.
The indictment adds several new counts including murder in aid of racketeering. Conviction on that charge would carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
Novack and Veliz are accused in the 2009 slayings of Bernice Novack in her Fort Lauderdale home and Ben Novack in his suburban New York hotel room.
Prosecutors allege Novack wanted to get her hands on her husband’s multimillion-dollar fortune. His father built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.
