New Era Pinstripe Bowl projection: Kansas State versus Syracuse
It’s more than 1,300 miles from Manhattan to the Bronx.
At least that’s the distance Kansas St. players will travel if the Wildcats are chosen to play in the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.
Kansas State’s campus is in Manhattan, Kansas, of course, but a trip to the Big Apple would seem fitting for the Wildcats (7-5). Ditto for a New York school, Syracuse (7-5), that is also expected to get an invite.
The Pinstripe Bowl will pit representatives of the Big East and the Big 12 against each other on Dec. 30.
Among bowls with Big East ties, the Pinstripe will get the fourth choice, while its selection committee will get the seventh pick among Big 12 teams.
Most projections have the Pinstripe choosing the Wildcats and Orange.
Mark Holtzman, the bowl’s executive director, has said he is excited over this potential matchup, noting the large number of Syracuse alumni in New York City.
UPDATE: Syracuse accepted an invitation on Thursday to play in the Pinstripe Bowl.
