‘Jack the Giant Slayer’
Ignore this film’s mediocre box office numbers: This adventure yarn from director Bryan Singer (“The Usual Suspects”) is one of the most fun films to come out recently. Recounting the old fairy tale, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) is up the beanstalk, off to save the princess (Eleanor Tomlinson) from giants, alongside the king’s crew (with a dashing Ewan McGregor and dastardly Stanley Tucci). I’m ready to watch it again. (DVD, $28.98; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $35.99; Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray/DVD combo, $44.95)

‘Upside Down’
High concept, decent execution. The premise here is that there are two worlds, one on top of the other, and the film follows a love story between a man and a woman from each world. Starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst. (DVD, $28.99; Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray, $29.99; Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray/DVD, $34.99)

‘When Things Were Rotten’
One of the lesser-known entries in Mel Brooks’ resume is this Robin Hood parody television series from 1975, years before his feature film “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.” It’s dated, but still an interesting, and funny, artifact for Brooks fans. (DVD, $24.95)
