'Marvel's The Avengers' This was a heck of a summer for superhero movies and Marvel's "The Avengers" (written and directed by Joss Whedon), the culmination of years of predecessors ("Iron Man," "Thor," "Captain America," "Hulk"), was far and away the finest of the bunch. The plot follows "Thor" villain Loki as he wreaks havoc on the world, while depicting the heroes joining together to save it. The key here is that the story is riveting and intense, but also a ton of fun. More please! (DVD, 29.99; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $39.99; Blu-ray 3-D/Blu-ray/DVD combo, $49.99)
'Strippers vs. Werewolves' Follow me here: There are strippers. There are werewolves. They battle. Starring Robert Englund ("Nightmare on Elm Street"). (DVD, $19.98; Blu-ray, $24.98)
'Damsels in Distress' Greta Gerwig is in a lot of movies. Here, she takes the lead in the first feature from writer/director Walt Stillman ("Last Days of Disco") in 14 years. (DVD, $30.99; Blu-ray, $35.99)
'Bond 50' From Sean Connery's "Dr. No" to Daniel Craig's "Quantum of Solace," this huge set houses 22 James Bond films that will keep you amused with their awesome spy adventures. (DVD, $199.98; Blu-ray, $299.98)
'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1' As you wait for "The Dark Knight Rises" to hit Blu-ray, check out the latest DC Comics animated film, an adaptation of Frank Miller's spectacular "The Dark Knight Returns." (DVD, $19.98; Two-Disc DVD, $24.98; Blu-ray/DVD combo, $24.98)
'FDR: American Badass' There is no way to describe this film and not sound insane, but here we go: Franklin Delano Roosevelt (played by Barry Bostwick, the mayor on "Spin City") fights Nazi werewolves in his wheelchair, which is loaded with firearms. Crazy, goofy and silly, this is a cult classic in the making. I hope there's a sequel. Seriously. (DVD, $24.98)
TV on DVD 'American Horror Story: First Season' (DVD, $49.98; Blu-ray, $59.99) 'The Crimson Petal and The White' (DVD, $39.99) 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - The 12th Season' (DVD, $63.98) 'CSI: Miami - The 10th and Final Season' (DVD, $55.98) 'CSI: NY - The Eighth Season' (DVD, $55.98) 'Desperate Housewives: The Complete Eighth and Final Season' (DVD, $45.99) 'Family Guy: Vol. 10' (DVD, $39.98) 'G.I.
