Delivery cyclists now have to suit up in safety gear or face a fine.

New rules took effect Tuesday that say businesses must provide their bikers with an ID card, a helmet, front and rear lights, reflective clothing, a bell and a sign with their business name.

Bikers must also obey all other traffic laws, and they will be required to take a traffic safety course.

Employers can face fines of up to $100 or more for violating the new regulations.

The new rules are in response to a push last summer from the Department of Transportation to ensure businesses are following all safety laws with their delivery people.

“New Yorkers want everything in a New York minute, but businesses that depend on bike deliveries can’t cut corners on safety,” Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan said at the time.
