New York City's social plan 2.0

It's a lot easier to "follow," "like" or "check in" to New York City.

The Bloomberg administration Thursday unveiled a single name - NYCGov - as its handle for four social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Foursquare.

The customized pages are all newly launched, officials said, although the city's Twitter account went live a couple of months ago. The sites feature links to videos and answers to frequently asked questions to city agencies.

"With these new channels, the city will be able to get New Yorkers the information they need in the way they want to get it," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
