Two overtime victories and a heart-stopping 30-27 win with just 10 seconds remaining in regulation have the Jets talking about the Super Bowl.

And who can blame them? Though there have been plenty of faults in the course of games, people like Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes have made the right plays at the right times. And when a 8-2 team stands just 26 seconds from an 0-1-1 mark over two games, talk is bound to turn to postseason destiny.

“I want to apologize to all the Jets fans for affecting their heart a little bit,” coach Rex Ryan said. “But we’re 8-2 and we‘ll get it fixed. If I have to apologize every week from here on out, I will, right on to the Super Bowl.”

His next apology might not be far in the future, however. The Jets now face the shortest week of their season, as they’ll face the Bengals on Thanksgiving night. It matters little that Cincinnati has lost six straight.

The revved-up pace of preparation, coming off three emotional victories, already has taken a mental toll.

“Everyone‘s miserable,” center Nick Mangold said. “You have to try to separate yourself [from the holiday].”
