New Yorkers say attention from Weiner, Spitzer races is embarrassing: Poll

The city's comeback political kids aren't viewed very highly, according to a Siena poll released Monday.

In fact, the survey found that more than half of the 815 New Yorkers interviewed said the national attention generated by the return of Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner is embarrassing.

Spitzer, who resigned as governor in 2009 after it was revealed he was involved in a prostitution scandal and is running for city comptroller, had a 33% favorability rating.

Weiner, who resigned two years later after he admitted to sending lewd pictures of himself online and is running for mayor, only had 11%.

The poll, which has a margin of error of 3.4% percentage also found that 16% of New Yorkers think the attention is "no big deal" while 8% find it entertaining and 68% say it's embarrassing.
