The NHL canceled another two weeks of the regular season Monday wiping out all games through Dec. 30 due to a labor dispute with locked-out players that threatens to wipe out the entire campaign.

In its fifth cancellation since the lockout began 87 days ago, 16 more days and 104 games were wiped off the 2012-13 schedule.

A total of 526 games are canceled so far by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

The decision, which comes less than a week after labor talks between the NHL and union representing its players collapsed, brings the total number of lost regular season games to 526, or 42.8% of the season, the league said in a statement.

NHL owners and players hoped to resume negotiations this week, deputy commissioner Bill Daly said on Sunday.
