After an optimistic few days of talks between the NHL players and owners, negotiations in the labor dispute ended on Thursday after just one hour, ESPNNewYork.com reported.

The NHL Players Association spent much of Thursday having internal discussions, the website reported. Commissioner Gary Bettman was not present at the negotiations.

With more than 400 games already scrapped, there is a growing chance that the entire season will be canceled. The 2005 season was lost due to a labor disagreement.

"This looks like it's not going to be resolved in the immediate future," NHLPA executive director Don Fehr told TSN.ca.
