NJ 'tan mom' denies putting 6-year-old in tanning booth

Patricia Krentcil - the now infamously tan New Jersey mom - insists she's not a bad mother.

Rather, other people are just out to get her.

Krentcil, 44, who was charged with a felony for child endangerment on Wednesday for allegedly taking her daughter tanning, has repeatedly denied bringing 6-year-old daughter Anna along to indulge in her habit at City Tropics Tanning Salon in Nutley, N.J.

"I would never, ever put my daughter in a tanning booth," Krentcil said in a video posted on TMZ.com. "We go out shopping, that's what we do. I don't want to hear any more about this."

Krentcil then insisted that anyone who chides her parenting is simply jealous.
"Any mother who makes an accusation about me is not a mother because I'm a great mother - I would never do that to my child," Krentcil fumed. "There's somebody out there for my whole life that doesn't like me because they are jealous, fat and they're ugly."

Krentcil pleaded not guilt on Wednesday in a Newark courtroom. She was released on $25,000 bail, according to reports.

A school nurse first contacted the police after Krentcil's daughter turned up at school with a sunburn, but the owner of City Tropics Tanning said his staff did not see her daughter in a booth when she came in for an April 22 tanning session.
