The Pakistani community in one northern New Jersey town is preparing to bury a young mother slain as she pushed her son in a stroller.

Nazish Noorani was killed Tuesday night a few blocks from her father’s house in Boonton, about 25 miles west of New York City. Husband Kashif Pervaiz was wounded and the couple’s 3-year-old son was not hurt. Both are in their mid-20s.

Friday’s funeral is to take place at an Islamic center in Boonton.

Morris County prosecutors haven’t announced any arrests in the murder, but have said the shooting was targeted and not random.

Relatives say the family recently moved from Brooklyn, N.Y., to Boston, where they say Pervaiz was attending graduate school at Harvard University. Harvard was unable to confirm that claim.
