No verdict reached yet in Rutgers webcam spying trial

The jury in the trial of an ex-Rutgers student accused of using a webcam to spy on his roommate's gay tryst ended a second day of deliberations Thursday without deciding whether he was guilty of a hate crime.

The 12 jurors are weighing whether Dharun Ravi, 20, is guilty of bias intimidation against Tyler Clementi, 18. If convicted, Ravi, who is not a U.S. citizen, faces up to 10 years in prison and deportation to his home country of India. He is also charged with lesser crimes of invasion of privacy and witness tampering, which do not entail prison time for a first-offender.

The panel was ordered to continue deliberations at 9 a.m. on Friday.

Days after learning that Ravi captured him on camera kissing another man, Clementi jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22, 2010. Ravi also appeared to have encouraged others to watch the footage of Clementi on his computer. Ravi is not charged in Clementi's death.
