If you're a fan of Rent the Runway - a website that allows gals to rent designer fashions - now there's a way to try on cocktail dresses, gowns and accessories before committing to a four- or eight-day rental. The site has opened up a permanent NYC showroom featuring fab special-occasion pieces from a roster of 175 top designers, including Missoni, Nina Ricci, Oscar de la Renta and Prabal Gurung. Right now, a sleeveless Prabal Gurung frock that retails for $1,925 rents for $250, and a one-shoulder Badgley Mischka gown that retails for $880 rents for $125. 163 Varick St. (4th Fl.), 212-524-6860 (by appointment only)
