NYC beard competition features fantastic face fuzz
From the lush facial foliage of Zach Galifianakis to whatever afflicted Braylon Edwards’ neck through the start of the season, it’s clear the beard is once again mainstream. But with half of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan sporting everything from scruff to a full lumberjack, whose sweet chin music is supreme?
If you think you have what it takes, the Gotham City Beardsman Alliance will be hosting the 2010 NYC Beard and Moustache Competition in Greenpoint this Saturday, drawing hirsute hopefuls from across the nation to battle it out in a variety of categories.
1. Full beard natural
2. Beard freestyle
3. Moustache
4. Goatee
5. Recession beard – This entry is “for those that may have lost their job, stopped shaving and are getting ready for the winter,” said GCBA president, Myk O’Connor.
6. Fake beard – This is for men and women who want to participate, but can’t grow beards, O’Connor said.
In the spirit of good unshaven fun, all proceeds collected go to The FealGood Foundation in NYC.
If you go: The NYC Beard and Moustahe Competition is at Europa Club on Saturday at 6 p.m., 98 Meserole Ave., Greenpoint, $15
