Subway construction work is disrupting travel on almost every line in New York City this weekend.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has advised travelers to allow for extra time because of the changes. Updates on affected lines are listed on the authority's website, mta.info.

The only unaffected routes are the No. 4 line, the shuttle between Grand Central and Times Square and the Staten Island Rail line.

On other lines, travelers can expect to see delays, skipped stations, express trains running as locals and portions of their trips replaced with free shuttle buses.

Service on the No. 1 line is suspended until 5 a.m. Monday, with shuttle buses replacing areas that aren't covered by express trains running on local tracks.

The MTA frequently does work on its tracks, stations and signal systems on weekends when disruptions have the least affect on work commutes.

The work is part of the authority's $11.2-billion capital program to upgrade subway service.
