A New York City teacher has been arrested after colleagues complained that she made comments about bringing a gun to school to settle scores.

Art teacher Sabrina Milo was taken from Brooklyn's Fort Hamilton High School in handcuffs Friday and charged with making terroristic threats.

Police were investigating whether the comments were empty talk, or something else.

A school district spokeswoman says Milo was hired in 2001, and had been suspended from class late last year for an undisclosed reason.

Students at the school told the New York Daily News that Milo hit a student's hand with a ruler.

Several teens told the newspaper Mile was eccentric, but well liked, and any comments about a gun were probably jokes.

A phone message left at Milo's home was not immediately returned.
