Police are investigating an early morning crash Tuesday on the westbound Long Island Expressway in Queens that left two teenagers dead.

An NYPD spokeswoman Tuesday night identified the passenger in the car as Jennifer Gao, 16, of Bell Boulevard in Queens. The driver, a 19-year-old male, was not identified Tuesday night because police had yet to notify relatives.

The crash involved what the NYPD described as a "late model Audi sedan" and occurred just before 1 a.m. between Exit 25, Utopia Parkway, and Exit 24, Kissena Boulevard, in Kew Gardens Hills, police said.

Police said the car left the road, overturned onto its side and crashed into a tree.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
