NYPD: 5 killed in shootings in 10-hour period

Five people were shot and killed in New York City during a violent 10-hour period this weekend, police said.

Tyrek Singleton, 28, of the Bronx was shot along with another man in front of 680 Tinton Ave. in the Bronx about 6 p.m. Friday, according to the NYPD. Both men were rushed to Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, where Singleton, who was shot in the torso, died, police said.

The second man, whose name wasn't released, suffered a bullet wound to a leg and is expected to recover, police said.

The second fatal shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday in East New York, Brooklyn, police said. Tevin Beckles, 21, and Randolph Williams, 37, both of Brooklyn, were shot in their chests on Pennsylvania Avenue near Glenmore Avenue, police said. Both died at Brookdale University Hospital, police said.

The fourth fatal gunshot victim, Pablo Pagan, 40, was found shot in his head outside his apartment building at 1575 Vyse Ave. in the Bronx about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

The fifth fatal shooting victim, Marco Castillo, 24, of the Bronx, was shot in his chest at 4:14 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Westchester Avenue, police said. He later died at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

No arrests had been made in any of the shootings as of last evening, police said. It was unclear whether any of the shootings were connected.
