The NYPD warned the city's financial firms Wednesday to monitor their mail after the German headquarters of Deutsche Bank received a letter bomb addressed to its CEO.
The bomb, which contained shrapnel, did not detonate. Nobody was injured, CNN reported.
"The return address was listed as a European central bank, which would likely increase the chances of him opening it," NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said in a statement.
The police increased security around Deutsche Bank's offices in New York as a precaution. A bank spokesman in the city declined to comment.
