Man who escaped NYPD custody in October captured

Police in New York City have captured a man who escaped custody while he was handcuffed earlier this year in an incident that drew harsh words from the police commissioner.
Authorities say 39-year-old Gerald Brooks was arrested Tuesday in Queens on an escape charge.
Police say Brooks had several open warrants for domestic violence-related crimes and was being hauled into a police car on Oct. 20 when he pushed a detective and took off.
Commissioner Bill Bratton called the officers who allowed the handcuffed prisoner to run off “an embarrassment.”
Police said at the time that two detectives and a sergeant will face severe disciplinary action.
Since June, four other prisoners escaped from NYPD custody.
It’s unclear if Brooks has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
