One of New York's Finest died Monday when his pickup truck was struck and went up in flames while on the Long Island Expressway, Suffolk police said.

Joseph Pritchard, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene, between westbound exits 51 and 52 in Dix Hills.

Suffolk police said his 2008 Dodge truck was stopped in the right lane “for an unknown reason” at 2:23 a.m. when it was hit by a box truck owned by Barakat Trucking in New Jersey.

Pritchard patrolled Midtown for five years. The Midtown South precinct, yesterday flew its flag at half-staff , according to Newsday.
