NYPD increases presence at area Sikh temples following Wis. shooting
Cops beefed up security at area Sikh temples Sunday following the mass shooting at a Wisconsin temple.
"There is no known threat against Sikh temples in New York City, however, the coverage is being put in place out of an abundance of caution," NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said in an emailed statement.
Extra patrol officers and Critical Response Vehicles were deployed to various locations, mostly in southern Queens and Brooklyn, the police said.
The mayor's office, which has been vocal about gun control following the Aurora, Colo. shooting, didn't have an immediate comment about the shooting.
