NYPD investigating video of cop pepper spraying protesters

The NYPD is investigating the notorious video of a police official pepper spraying a crowd of protesters Saturday, as a new video has emerged of the same person spraying another crowd that day, as well as reports of misconduct by him at a 2004 protest.
"I don't know what precipitated that specific incident," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said when announcing the investigation of Anthony Bologna by the Internal Affairs Bureau. He added that the protesters in the video were "tumultuous" and "were intent on blocking traffic."
Kelly said the Civilian Complaint Review Board also is looking into the incident, which occurred near Union Square as part of the Occupy Wall Street protests, today in its 13th consecutive day.
The Guardian Wednesday reported that Bologna was accused of false arrest and civil rights violations against a protester at the Republican national convention in 2004. The outcome of that claim is pending.
The NYPD didn't immediately return requests for comment.
