New York police have joined the investigation into the disappearance of a Michigan woman who was thrown out of her Manhattan sublet after a rent dispute and was last seen nearly a week ago.

The family of Aimee Angle-Zahn, 34, said Tuesday that they are growing increasingly worried about the fourth year student at Cornell Medical College.

Angle-Zahn, who was in New York taking a leave from her studies, was thrown out of her sublet at The Vogue building on Avenue of the Americas on Thursday. Her father, Allen Angle, said the NYPD initially declined to take a missing person’s report, saying that authorities in her home state would have to investigate.

It was unclear why police changed their minds.

Michigan police said Tuesday they had no leads.
