NYPD officers shoot man with dagger in Brooklyn, cops say
New York City police officers shot and injured a man in Brooklyn on Sunday who reportedly lunged at them with a dagger, the NYPD said Sunday night.
At about 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an emotionally disturbed man in the Bergen Beach neighborhood, police officials said.
Officers said they came upon a 29-year-old man who was holding a sharp metal dagger near 68th Street and Avenue T.
Police said the man lunged at one of the officers with the dagger, when officers shot him twice.
The man was taken to Kings County Hospital Center with nonlife-threatening injuries and was expected to survive, a police spokesman said, adding that the officers were not injured.
