A terror warning from the White House has the NYPD beefing up presence in key locations into next week, Commissioner Ray Kelly said Sunday.

New York's top cop said more officers were stationed places of worship, transportation hubs and in the NYPD's critical response deployment since Friday afternoon.

"We consider ourselves to be on alert all the time and we have increased, over the weekend, our weekend coverage," Kelly told reporters. "We'll do that into next week."

In response to a terror threat from Al Qaeda and affiliated groups, the White House closed U.S. embassies in the Middle East and North Africa, while the U.S. State Department issued a global travel alert throughout August. Kelly said there was no specific threat against the city.
