A 25-year-old parolee with a long criminal record is being sought in connection with a carjacking on Staten Island early Sunday as well as a shootout early Monday with police near the toll plaza of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, officials said.

Tyrell Brown, whose last known address was at 130 Lamport Blvd. on Staten Island, is suspected of taking a 2006 Hummer at gunpoint on Holland Avenue about 6:10 a.m. Sunday, NYPD chief of detectives Robert Boyce said.

Then, about 1:25 a.m. Monday, at the toll plaza of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Brown got into a shootout with Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority police officer as he was returning to the island, Boyce said.

No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, Boyce noted.

"This individual is considered armed and dangerous," said Boyce, who added that police were seeking the public's help in locating Brown.

A law enforcement official noted that two homicides over the weekend on Staten Island were being reviewed to see if they have any connection to Brown.

State records show that Brown was paroled on May 8, 2014, after serving up to five years for a robbery conviction on Staten Island.

He was also paroled in 2008 after a conviction for attempted robbery, state correction records show.
