NYPD probes cabbie's claim he was beaten
The NYPD is looking into a cabbie’s claim that he was beaten and robbed by a firefighter on St. Patrick’s Day.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the taxi driver told police he picked up four firefighters at 11 p.m. from a midtown Manhattan bar. The paper says Bouchaib Fadrany asked the firefighters to leave his cab after they became belligerent and cursed at him. They complied.
But the Journal says one firefighter went over to the driver’s side window and spit on Fadrany, then opened the door and punched and kicked him before walking away with his jacket containing $450 in cash and credit cards.
The FDNY declined to comment but said it was cooperating with the police investigation.
