The NYPD is investigating an illegal underground party at an abandoned subway station Friday night that city blog Gothamist wrote about and published photos of, officials said Monday.
The blog said it was invited to a party with about 200 people at the abandoned station deep under the city's street in a cavern called the "Echo Vault," where revelers danced to live music for about two hours before emerging back out.
"Trespassing in non-public areas of NYC Transit is a serious crime and has the potential to lead to injury," MTA spokseman Charles Seaton said. "This incident has been passed on to the NYPD for investigation."
The NYPD and the event's organizers didn't respond to request for comment.
