NYPD search for attempted rapist in TriBeCa
The NYPD is searching for a "well-dressed man" they say tried to rape a 39-year-old woman inside her TriBeCa apartment building last week.
Police said the middle-aged man wearing a navy blue blazer, white shirt, dark pants and black dress shoes followed the woman into her apartment building around 9:15 p.m. Friday night, then pushed her to the floor and attempted to rape her.
He was scared off during the attack when a man walked into the building, the NYPD said. The victim was treated for bruising on her body at a nearby hospital.
Police released surveillance video of the alleged assaulter, who is described as being in his late-40's to mid-50s, weighing 170 to 200 pounds, and about 5-foot-10" tall.
Anyone with information on his identity can call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or visit nypdcrimestoppers.com. Tips can be sent via text to 274637 (CRIMES) then TIP577.
