The NYPD announced a three-week traffic safety initiative, effective Monday, that focuses on "the most problematic intersections around the city."

The enforcement operation will last 21 consecutive days, ending July 6, and take place "during all hours of the day," the NYPD said in a news release.

"Enforcement will focus on hazardous driving behaviors such as speeding, passing through red lights, driving while using a cellphone, driving while texting, making improper turns, disobeying traffic signs, and failing to yield to pedestrians," the NYPD said.

In announcing its initiative, the NYPD encouraged drivers "to use caution, to slow down and to be patient" on city streets.
