Maybe Rush Limbaugh should think about having Barack Obama over for Thanksgiving dinner.

First we found out in 2007 that Democrat Barack Obama was distantly related to Republican Dick Cheney, and now Ancestry.com is saying he’s 10th-cousins of right-wingers Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.

Too far-fetched? Not very.

Politicians are often related to each other, said Allison Stacey, editor of Family Tree Magazine, who called Ancestry.com’s claims “definitely plausible.”

“If you look at the family tree of many politicians, they run in the same genetic circles,” Stacey said. “Noble people breed noble people.”

Obama and Palin even share a common ancestor with former president George W. Bush, Ancestry.com said. And anyway, once you go back far enough, family tree branches splinter exponentially, said Barbara Renick, author of “Geneaology 101.”

Renick’s students often find out they’re related to people like Abraham Lincoln, said the gen-expert, who claimed she’s a relative of Dwight Eisenhower. Ancestry.com also has reported that Obama shares genes with Brad Pitt and Warren Buffett.

Chances of being related increase once you factor in similarities between two people, such as being from political families or hailing from the same hometown.

Or perhaps, a common preference for blood. Ancestry.com also has connected bloodthirsty “Twilight” hunk Robert Pattinson to Vlad the Impaler, the 15th century Romanian who inspired Bram Stoker’s thriller “Dracula.”
