An off-duty police officer was shot during an argument after a minor car accident outside a Bronx diner early today, police said.

The officer, a 15-year member of the department whom police did not identify, was shot in the buttocks outside the Pelham Bay Diner about 5 a.m., police said.

The officer is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center, authorities said.

Police are searching for four male suspects.

Managers at the East Gun Hill Road eatery declined to comment when reached by phone.
