On off-duty NYPD detective shot and killed a 17-year-old alleged mugger in Bushwick on Sunday after an attempted robbery, according to the NYPD.

The detective felled Antwain White outside the Gates Avenue stop along the J train around 11:50 p.m., after White and an accomplice attacked Cintron, grabbing him and hitting him in the face with a cane, police said.

Cintron identified himself and told the suspects to stop, but they continued, and Cintron shot White in the chest with his off-duty .38-caliber revolver, police said. White was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The second suspect fled but was later arrested. As of last night he had yet to be charged.

This is the third time this month that police have fatally shot a suspect in Brooklyn. Christopher Kissane, suspected of stealing a car, was shot and killed in Cypress Hills on Jan. 26, and Duane Browne was shot and killed in East New York on Jan. 12.
