Off-duty Queens cop busted for DWI, fleeing scene after car crash
An off-duty cop was busted Tuesday morning for drunkenly driving into another car and fleeing the scene, according to police.
Ankur Joshi, 35, allegedly hit a woman driving in a Honda Accord Tuesday morning before driving away, police said. The unidentified woman was treated for minor neck and back injuries; Joshi was uninjured.
Joshi was arrested at his Queens home -- which is in the same precinct he's assigned to -- at around 11:40 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. He was suspended without pay, an NYPD spokesman said.
A spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney's office did not know when Joshi was expected to be arraigned and did not yet have his lawyer's name. If convincted, Joshi faces up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine.
