Officials: Brooklyn gang busted for year-long reign of terror

More than a dozen members of a Brooklyn gang were charged with terrorizing Crown Heights homes during a yearlong burglary spree, officials announced Wednesday.
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said cops were able to catch the alleged teenage thugs because they fought over the proceeds of selling off the stolen goods over Facebook.
Prosecutors said the 14 members of the "the Brower Boys" gang, who range in age from 13 to 19, allegedly scaled fire escapes and traversed roof tops to break into homes that were sometimes occupied between April 2011 and this March. Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said the "bums" would steal cellphones, laptops, cameras and video games that they would later pawn.
During one of the burglaries, an unidentified 13-year-old member of the group allegedly sexually assaulted a woman before robbing her home, according to the indictment.
"Their cycle of crime is over," Hynes said.
