Actor Michael Clarke Duncan, the gentle giant with mysterious healing powers who stole the movie The Green Mile as the convict John Coffey, died in Los Angeles Monday, his representative said, attributing the news to his fiancee, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault.
"The Oscar-nominated actor suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered," Duncan's representative said in a statement.
Duncan, 54, who stood six feet five inches and worked as a body guard for numerous celebrities before becoming an actor, told the press two years ago that romance ignited with Manigault, the two-season participant in "The Apprentice" (she later obtained a Baptist preacher's license) after the two met in the produce section of a Whole Foods store.
