Paris Jackson reportedly in psychiatric facility following a suicide attempt
Paris Jackson, the 15-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, is apparently all right after a reported suicide attempt early yesterday morning, and has been transferred from a hospital to a psychiatric facility, according to TMZ.com.
Katherine Jackson, Michael's mother, who has custody of Paris and her siblings, told Entertainment Tonight, "Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention."
TMZ, which posted photos of the teen's scarred forearms from what were apparently previous cuttings, said she left a suicide note.
The site also quoted sources saying she cut herself with a meat cleaver and took ibuprofen pills before calling a suicide hotline, which in turn prompted one of its operators to call 911.
The teen "threw a fit" after being told she could not attend a Marilyn Manson concert, according to the website.
In a statement to the AP, a Jackson family attorney said: "Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you."
Paris's Twitter feed Tuesday contained a series of posts: "omg," "I wonder why tears are salty?" and then famous Beatles lyrics: "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay."
A spokesman for the LA County Sheriff said that the department "responded to a medical situation at Prada de la Felicidad in Calabasas." The law forbade him from giving further detail
