Paris Versus New York blog now a book

We've been fans of Paris-based graphic designer Vahram Muratyan's sketch-a-day blog Paris Versus New York for some time. Essentially juxtaposing the iconography of each city, Muratyan's observations are at once razor-sharp, endearingly familiar, insightful, cliched and witty. Checking the blog daily was fun, but we couldn't help but wonder when the sketches would be compiled in one place. Maintenant, it seems.
"Paris Versus New York: A Tally of Two Cities" (Penguin $20) is described as "a friendly visual match between two cities told by a lover of Paris wandering through New York," and the mini-hardcover features 105 sketches.
The book will debut at a Feb. 2 signing by the author and an exhibition opening at the Shop at the Standard hotel.
A few to mull over: Josephine vs. Liza, un bobo vs. un hipster, Sonia vs. Anna, Godard vs. Woody, and pierre de taille vs. brick. Don't worry, you'll understand when you see the lively, lucid sketches.
