Paterson’s aide surrenders on assault charge
An aide to Gov. David A. Paterson has surrendered on an assault charge in the 2009 Bronx domestic violence incident that touched off a tampering investigation in Albany.
The Bronx district attorney’s office says David Johnson surrendered to authorities at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday on misdeameanor charges.
The case stems from an incident last Halloween. His then-girlfriend, Sherr-Una Booker, called police to say she had been choked and thrown against a mirror by Johnson.
Booker’s initial claim against Johnson prompted an investigation of whether Paterson intervened in the case. A judge cleared Paterson of wrongdoing.
