A 37-year-old man's guilty plea for sneaking into a city detention center earned him a trip to a state prison for 10 years.

Matthew Matagrano of Yonkers was sentenced to a decade behind bars for posing as a phony investigator to get into the Manhattan Detention Complex, where he groped an inmate, threatened to hurt him and ordered him to strip.

"Using a fake badge to enter a city jail has landed a real criminal in state prison," said Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance.

Prosecutors said on Feb. 27, Matagrano flashed a gold shield to get into the city Department of Corrections facility. He pleaded to burglary in the second degree as a sexual motivated felony and for stealing a radio from an office.
