Pippa Middleton may face charges for her friend's gun flap

Pippa Middleton, Prince William's sister-in-law, could face criminal charges after one of her friends reportedly pointed a semiautomatic gun at paparazzi in Paris on Sunday, according to the British newspaper, The Sun.

Images released by the photographer show Middleton smirking in the passenger seat of an Audi convertible, accompanied by three friends. The driver is seen pointing the weapon in the direction of the camera.

The driver allegedly pulled the weapon, brandished it and then pointed it at the photographer, The Sun reported.

"If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted. Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation," a source told the paper.

The Paris Judicial Police Department is reportedly on the verge of launching an investigation. Pippa and her friends who were present during the incident could each face up to seven years in jail if convicted, or a two-year sentence if the gun is a fake.

The photographer has not yet filed a formal police complaint.
