Newly released from prison, former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress said in a TV interview Wednesday that he showed “bad judgment” for the gun rap that landed him in prison, but said he was carrying the weapon only out of fear.
Burress, 33, said on Fox 5’s “Good Day New York” that a teammate had been robbed at gunpoint a few days before the Nov. 28, 2008, incident and he had an “uneasy feeling.”
The former star, who is trying to find a new team, accidentally shot himself in a Manhattan club that night and was sentenced to two years for gun possession.
“It was just bad judgment, a bad decision,” he said. “Just one bad decision so quickly took everything away.”
