Police kill knife-wielding man after he pulls out Taser
Police Sunday shot and killed a knife-wielding man in Inwood after he pulled the prongs of their Taser out of his body, police reports said.
Emmanuel Paulino, 24, was shot multiple times outside Vermilyea Avenue home about 5:30 a.m. in the second police-involved shooting in two days.
Four police were responding to two 911 calls at Paulino’s Inwood residence, one of which claimed a man was shouting he wanted to hurt a cop, police said.
When they arrived, police told Paulino to drop his knife. After he refused, the police Tasered him.
He ripped the electrical prongs from his body, then police opened fire and hit him several times in the torso, authorities said.
A day earlier, Bronx cops shot Victor Hernandez, 35, in the arm after responding to a call of a man with a gun. A 9 mm firearm was found at the scene.
Hernandez was later arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and menacing.
Police are investigating both incidents.
