Vancouver police on Tuesday said they’re hopeful that missing 1980s sitcom actor Andrew Koenig is alive and well, but his desperate family insisted that authorities have no evidence the actor who played Boner on “Growing Pains” is in hiding or “trying to lie low.”

Koenig, 41, was last seen on Feb. 14 in Vancouver, where he was visiting friends, and has had no cell phone or bank activity since Feb. 16, police said in a statement.

Koenig’s father Walter, who played Pavel Chekov on the original “Star Trek,” said he received a letter from his son on Feb. 16 in which he appeared despondent. Walter Koenig and his wife are in Vancouver assisting in the search.

The younger Koenig’s former co-star, Kirk Cameron, Tuesday said that he is praying for his old friend. “Andrew, if you’re reading this, please call me,” Cameron said in a statement.
